Second Corinthians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of mercies and the God of all comfort.
There is no substitute for the real comforter. There is no other way to deal with the wounds that you're carrying. Some of you men you lay in bed at night and you worry and you fret. You worry about good things you're responsible men. Some of you women are concerned about your families, you are concerned about your marriage and you struggle in the middle of the night these thoughts come to you.
Does anybody ever have that? Thoughts coming to you in the middle of the night? Really responsible thoughts and the worry and the care and the frustration and the anxiety start piling up on the inside of you and you're wondering what am I gonna do? How am I going to deal with this?
I Remember when Pam blew out her back and ruptured her disc. We went to the doctor and the doctor basically said your wife's going to be in the wheelchair the rest of her life. I laid in bed that night with my eyes wide open in the darkness looking out with my eyes is wide filled with fear.
I was worried and anxious wondering what I could do to fix the situation and feeling powerless. Until the Holy Spirit said, “Come on get out of bed come with Me.” I walked down the hallway and he led me into this and just began breathing…breathing the word. He taught me a secret. He taught me how to deal with fear. He taught me how to deal with the thing…the anxiousness…the carefulness. If you are full of fear you can only be faith-less and God can only advantage you when you are faith-filled.
That's why we can't just be fear-less we have to be faith-full. The Holy Spirit begins breathing the word interpreting the word of God inside of me and suddenly the healing power of God's Word begins working.
Suddenly he begins showing me where we're going. Suddenly I stopped thinking about my boys being behind me and suddenly I have a vision of where I'm going and I see them with Jesus! I see the hope and I see I see my grandfather with Jesus and I see all the goodness that is in front of me where we're going.
I started looking at the hundred-year plan instead of looking at the ten-year plan. I started getting faith in my heart and I start being comforted by the Holy Spirit. And as the Holy Spirit comforts me I become an agent of comfort to other people. This is what God has for us.
