Believe it or not, how you feel is more of a controversial subject then you might know. Everybody wants to feel good, but because of the close relationship between your flesh and feelings, it's common to lump it all under the heading of being carnal. Here's a quick peek into God's thoughts on you as a complete person: "Beloved, I wish above all things that you would prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers." (3 John 2)
Being healthy feels good. To the cancer patient laying in a hospital bed longing for a stroll through the park, deliverance from those diseased cells would feel so good. The single mother that works hard to pay the rent and put clothes on her children would have a good feeling when her cupboards prosper with food.
I've been working by faith on a healing for low thyroid and anemia for years. When my blood is low, I feel very tired and low. It's not a good feeling, but it signals me to pursue wisdom and shout, "By Jesus stripes I'm healed, restored and living blessed!" When my blood level comes up, I feel so good and thankful to God. I'm even more energized to minister to others.
Feeling good is GOOD. It's always been part of the benefit of being in fellowship with God. The Holy Spirit strengthens, encourages, helps and lifts you up. Yes, that feels good! The spin on "feeling good" being a bad thing only occurs when we sidestep Truth and make it the pursuit, the goal, instead of a byproduct of God's will. People who chase a good feeling end up mastered by sin and live in the fallout of hurt, breakup, pain, and loss.
Water is a good thing and critical to life, but you must master it. If water masters you then you drown. The ability to feel is a gift from God. It helps keep you a safe distance from the campfire. Feelings help you to be sensitive to others needs. You're not meant to be led or live life subject to them, but use them. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7). Feelings are not a substitute for faith.
Faith moves mountains and that feels amazing. Feelings don't move mountains so don't chase the good feeling. That's sin. Believe in God not what you feel. Use your feelings, don't let them use you. You seek first God's Kingdom and let Him be the source of your joy ... yes, feeling good!
Let's pray together:
Father God just the sound of You calling me "Beloved" sounds so good. Lord it even feels good to know that You care deeply for me. Give me ears to hear Your voice of Wisdom, and eyes to see the path You've prepared for me to walk. You desire for me to prosper and be in good health, body and soul. I receive Your will gladly. Thank you Father for sending Jesus so I can live the blessed life and be a blessing. Amen!
